A Soldier’s Upgrade

Twenty-two years in special operations. Sixteen combat deployments. My eyes were my most valuable asset—and they were failing me. When the VA couldn’t help, Unzyme Laboratories could.

Enhanced Perception

My vision now operates across multiple spectrums simultaneously. I see heat signatures through walls. I can read license plates from half a mile away. The targeting overlay automatically identifies potential threats and calculates trajectory solutions in real-time—a feature I find less useful in civilian life than anticipated.

The world looks different now. Sharper. More data-rich. My brain has adapted to process the additional visual information, though the specialists warned that some adaptation effects are permanent. I now find standard human vision limited, almost claustrophobic.

Social Considerations

My wife requested that I wear tinted glasses at family gatherings. She found the constant subtle movements of my eyes “unsettling” and mentioned that our grandchildren cried when I looked at them too intently. A small price for perfect vision.

I’ve also noticed that I can no longer cry. The specialists believe this is related to the replacement of tear duct infrastructure during the procedure. I’m told I can still experience emotions normally—I simply can’t express them through conventional ocular responses.
