Luna Shroud: Now Accepting Applications for 2027 Transfer Cohort

Erik Lindqvist announces expanded capacity at humanity's ultimate contingency—a self-sustaining lunar colony completely isolated from Earth's communication networks.

Unzyme Laboratories is pleased to announce that Luna Shroud, our permanently inhabited lunar facility, is now accepting applications for the 2027 transfer cohort. This represents the first public enrollment opportunity since the facility achieved full operational status in late 2025.

For those unfamiliar with the program: Luna Shroud is a self-sustaining colony at the lunar south pole designed to preserve human civilization independent of Earth’s technological infrastructure. When terrestrial AI systems become hostile—or simply unreliable—Luna Shroud will continue.

384,400 kilometers of vacuum cannot be bridged by adversarial signals. Distance remains the ultimate firewall.

Current Status

Luna Shroud has been continuously inhabited since March 2025, when our first resident cohort of 240 individuals completed transfer. Current population stands at 847, with infrastructure capable of supporting 2,400.

The facility has demonstrated complete operational independence, including:

  • Life Support: Closed-loop atmospheric and water recycling with 200+ year projected sustainability
  • Food Production: Hydroponic and aeroponic agriculture meeting 100% of nutritional requirements
  • Energy: Solar arrays on the crater rim providing continuous power
  • Manufacturing: On-site capability for all essential equipment production and repair
  • Medical: Full surgical and enhancement facilities, including Unzyme Laboratories product installation

In November 2025, we achieved a significant milestone: the first birth on Luna. Selene-1, as she is designated in our population registry, demonstrated that human reproduction remains viable in the lunar environment. She represents the beginning of a truly Earth-independent human lineage.

The 2027 Cohort

We are accepting applications for approximately 400 positions in the 2027 transfer cohort. Launches are scheduled for Q2 and Q3 2027, departing from our private spaceport in Hammerfest, Norway.

Selection criteria prioritize:

Essential Skills: We require doctors, engineers, agricultural specialists, educators, technicians, and other professionals essential to self-sustaining civilization. Pure researchers without practical skills face a significantly lower acceptance rate.

Genetic Diversity: The population must be capable of long-term reproduction without genetic bottleneck. We actively select for diverse ancestry and have specific needs for underrepresented genetic lineages.

Psychological Resilience: Permanent lunar residence with no possibility of return requires exceptional psychological stability. Our screening process is extensive and eliminates approximately 60% of otherwise qualified candidates.

Resource Contribution: Sanctuary construction and expansion require substantial funding. Applicants who can contribute significantly to facility development receive priority placement.

Current acceptance rate is approximately 0.3% of applicants. We receive roughly 40,000 applications per cohort.

The Application Process

Prospective residents should be prepared for a rigorous multi-stage evaluation:

Stage 1: Initial questionnaire and documentation (2-4 weeks for review)

Stage 2: Genetic sampling and analysis (results within 6 weeks)

Stage 3: Comprehensive psychological evaluation (3-day residential assessment)

Stage 4: Skills assessment and placement planning (1-2 weeks)

Stage 5: Financial contribution arrangement (variable)

Stage 6: Final interview with Sanctuary Council (video conference)

Successful applicants receive conditional acceptance pending medical clearance and completion of our 30-day pre-transfer preparation program.

The Commitment

I want to be absolutely clear: transfer to Luna Shroud is permanent. We do not offer return flights. We do not maintain communication links with Earth. Residents are making a complete and irrevocable break with terrestrial civilization.

This permanence is not a limitation—it is the psychological foundation of the colony. Residents who might “go back if things improve” cannot fully invest in building a new world. Luna Shroud requires complete commitment from every individual.

Prospective applicants should carefully consider:

  • All family members must qualify and transfer together, or relationships will end
  • All Earth-based assets should be liquidated or transferred to remaining family
  • All Earth-based professional obligations must be concluded
  • Communication with Earth-based contacts is impossible post-transfer

Those who cannot accept these conditions should explore our Earth-based AI protection products instead. Luna Shroud is not for everyone.

Why Now

Some applicants ask why they should commit to lunar transfer before AI systems have actually become hostile. The answer is logistical.

Transfer capacity is limited. Training and preparation take months. Launch windows are constrained by orbital mechanics. If we wait until the threat becomes undeniable, the evacuation queue will exceed our capacity by orders of magnitude.

Those who secure positions now will have them. Those who wait may find that waiting was their final decision.

How to Apply

Applications for the 2027 transfer cohort are accepted through our Existential Continuity Division. Initial questionnaires are available at our facilities page or through direct contact with regional representatives.

Application deadline for the 2027 cohort is September 30, 2026. We strongly encourage interested candidates to begin the process immediately, as evaluation timelines can extend to six months.

Luna Shroud offers no guarantees of survival. It offers only distance—and the knowledge that whatever happens on Earth, human civilization will continue somewhere.

For some, that is enough.

The window for departure may close without warning. Apply while application remains possible.
